Great Speech on Balanced and Fair Trade

A stellar job in Iowa on balanced and fair trade! John Edwards is on a roll!!

Senator Edwards speech yesterday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on balanced and fair trade was perfect! It was comprehensive, detailed, passionate, strong and tough! You could see over and over again his passion for helping the American people and whose side he is on, ours! A speech to be used again and again by us, out in the community for the dissemination of his marvelous ideas for transforming America, bringing economic justice for which we are starved, and building One America.

If you haven't read it yet, go to his site and do enjoy reading it as I did so much, feeling so proud that I am backing such a real Winner, who really "gets it".

"Smarter Trade that Puts Workers First - Remarks as Prepared for Delivery" - Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Aug. 5, 2007

Wow! One after another, he is belting these great positions out in the most eloquent and impassioned and compelling ways yet.

What stood out for me in this speech about trade, which is so much at the heart and soul of economic justice - for here and the world - were these phrases, themes and lines:

"global middle class" Everybody's boat rises! Great concept

"community impact assessment" Wonderful, economic justice starts at the community level, where we live and hopefully work.

"Before I ask Congress to approve any new trade agreement, we will have an honest discussion about the real impact of that agreement on towns and communities and workers across our country." Hooray!

"we will pay part of workers' wages while they are being trained." Always thoughtful, fair and truly compassionate.!

"Regular families - their safety and their best interests - should come before the interests of multinational corporations. That's what safe and smart trade is about." For us, all of us.

"smart trade vision for America" Great

"smart and safe trade" Pefect

"It's time to have a president that always - always - puts the interests of the American people first......

But this isn't about being well-liked. This is about doing what's right....... when I'm president, real change is coming."

Amen!
