[edit diary]

I was taken by Common Dream's Abby Zimmet's editorial today on Bernie Sanders performance in the Senate. When she called him a mensch in the piece, I figured she meant something good by the term. But just to be sure, I looked up the definition, and this is what I got:

A person having admirable characteristics, such as fortitude and firmness of purpose: "He radiates the kind of fundamental decency that has a name in Yiddish; he's a mensch" (James Atlas).http://www.answers.com/topic/m...

That got me thinking about how great it would be to have a person like him in the White House, and how can we ever get that to happen ...

Well, it wasn't long before I found myself googling, "Bernie Sanders for President", and, yes, it was amazing just how many entries there are. http://www.google.com/search?s...

One that intrigued me was:

Seems like I dreamed of something like this before: in 1968 with Bobby Kennedy (I was even part of a national "draft Bobby" effort, in 1968, collecting signatures for that cause, way back then, in my home town of Pittsburgh, PA., in Market Square and again in 1979, for Teddy. I'm not there yet, but it is intriguing. And, just to send a mersage, I did donate a small contribution at the ACT Blue, Bernie Sanders for President. I figure it doesn't hurt to send a message.
